Vikings! Of Middle England

Combat Displays Continued...

Siege!

The attackers hit the wall with a battering ram

During Saxon times there were no true castles in the same way as we know them now, but this does not mean that people left themselves defenceless. Burghs, or fortified towns, were well known in the days of King Alfred, and we depict a Viking raid on one of these settlements.

The sieges Vikings! Of Middle England perform are truly some of the most spectacular combat scenes that you can witness. The lead up to the main battle includes assaults with hastily made battering rams and ladders. Captured warriors are hung from the walls as a demonstration of what will happen to those who attack them.

Archer's rain arrows over the walls onto the warriors and their families, and attempts to burn the walls are made, to force the defenders to fight.

After the siege has continued for many weeks and food stocks are running low, the defenders make a last ditch attempt to save their families and farms. They make an agreement to meet on the field in return for the attackers allowing the wives and children of those inside to leave safely.

The conclusion is settled in open battle, with the Saxons fighting for their lives knowing full well that if they die their families will be captured and sold on as slaves, and the Vikings fighting for the wealth that lies in the town, and the reputation that comes with victory!

Cavalry

Horsemen charge through the line

An added dimension! Feel the ground shake to the thunder of hooves!

Due to our established links with the Icelandic Horse Society of Great Britain, we can also provide a mounted element to our displays.

Using pure bred Icelandic's, the only true Viking horse still in existence, these add greatly to any event. Whether solely for pageant or as an integral part of combat displays they are always a huge crowd favourite!

Indeed, Vikings! Of Middle England produced the first genuine Viking cavalry charge seen on British soil for 1000 years!
