Rolling Scenarios

Over the years Tÿrslið has developed its own unique method of presenting history to the public. Using a rolling scenario format, the group is able to combine dramatic scripts, formidable combat and improvisation in a professional and convincing blend of education, entertainment and excitement. This formula has proved most successful and in part accounts for the high profile and excellent reputation that the group currently enjoys. [see ‘What Others Have Said’]
Recent Rolling Scenario pageants have included: The Althing: Murder in the Village, St Brice’s Day Massacre, The Struggle For Scotland (The true story of Macbeth) and The Revenge of Ivarr The Boneless, Hereward and the Normans and Conflict Of Kings (Relating to Athelstan and Edmund).

performance complete, the players present themselves to the crowd

Scripts for these scenarios are prepared and distributed to the players, who, rather than learning them word for word, learn the gist and improvise. Much of their improvisation is written into the script, which is then stored for future use. At present a cycle of ten rolling scenarios is envisaged before repeats are contemplated.
