A Typical Day
Bringing a wealth of knowledge and armed with a range of equipment, including museum replica artefacts and tools, Vikings! Of Middle England provides an entire days' worth of activities suitable for Key Stage 2.
VME breaks the day into several modules:
- An Introduction - Who were the Vikings? Where did they come from? And, What did they do for us?
- Coin Striking activity - Children can strike their own coins, learn about how money was used in Viking life.
- Surgery Demonstration - How did the Vikings treat wounds and illnesses?
- Viking Funeral - What would be put into the grave and what would be left over after 1000 years? What did the Vikings believe in?
- Storytelling
OHP slides can be used to supplement talks and children are encouraged to ask questions throughout as we touch on daily life, diet and the duties of Viking Children, amongst the main topics above.
Many of the activities are very hands-on, and a range of Viking-age replica items can be experienced first hand.
For a small fee, affordable in most schools budgets, Vikings! Of Middle England can provide an enjoyable and informative day that the children (and teachers) will never forget.
Typical Fee: With the rising costs of fuel the price depends upon location. Currently we are charging £175 for a full day and £100 for a half-day. The full day is better value for money and we are able to include far more in the presentation.
